Blacklist mpg folder on aminet

Issue #110 closed

Hi I really like this software and I use it on my 030 1200. The problem is that sometimes it fetch mp3s from aminet and that will kill the performance so badly that often the only solution is to reboot with ctrl+la+ra. Since these mp3 modules are all in mods/mpg/ and maybe also mods/32bit/, is there a simple way to blacklist these whole folders? I think I could also disable mp3 decoding from eagleplayer but the better way is to not download these files at all. Thank you.

Yes! Actually, I had the very same problem so AmiModRadio has two different settings that will help:

    • You can "blacklist" individual modules or whole folders using the little "speaker with a cross" icons next to the module or folder name. These icons update the files data/Blacklisted Files and data/Blacklisted Directories. You can also edit these files by hand if it's easier. (Also, data/Blacklisted Directories should already include "/mods/mpg".)
    • You can limit the size of the modules to download. This setting is the last one, at the bottom, in the Prefs page. I found this setting useful with my A4000D/30: I didn't want AmiModRadio to download large modules (slow download) and then unarchive them (slow unarchive) to then realise they contain no playable modules or, worst, MP3

One last set of settings that could be useful for you: the before-last three settings in the Prefs page to only consider "good" modules (rated by either you or the community), this will also prevent some large (and crappy) modules to be downloaded...
