Frequently Asked Questions

What is SAGE ETL?

SAGE ETL, otherwise known as the "nightly upload", is the behind the scene application that takes information from Management and Banner to create the files that is uploaded to SAGE proper.

What happens when a user is deleted from SAGE Management?

A user should be deleted from Management when they're no longer in an advising capacity. An organization change should be requested if the user is simply moving from one college to another.

  • All assigned roles are removed
  • All relationships they have are marked inactive and will be removed from SAGE as part of the nightly upload
  • Their account is marked inactive.
    • They will not be able to log into SAGE Management (if they have access) as soon as their account is deleted. If their account is removed while logged in they'll stay logged in and can continue to use Management. Subsequent login attempts will fail.
    • They will not be able to login into SAGE after the nightly upload

The ability to remove users from Management is limited to super-users/systems administrators. When you're looking at a user and see the following:

Please contact SAGE Support if you would like to delete this user.

then you're not a super-user/system administrator. And, as instructed, you'll need to reach out to support to have the user remove. You manually removing their roles and relationships will not remove them from the system.

Under what circumstances will users receive a notification email?

Users

  • New users will automatically receive a welcome email

Relationships

  • By default, users will be notify of new relationships when using the Add relationship modal. You can choose not send this email.
  • Users will automatically be notified when their relationships are deleted.
  • By default, users will be notify of new relationships or deleted relationships when using file upload. You can choose not send these emails.

Do students receive emails from SAGE Management?

  • Yes. Students will be notify whenever they're assigned a new advisor. This will happen after the nightly upload, once the data is in SAGE and they're able to see it.

    • The delayed nature of the emails also gives Management users the chance to correct mistakes. In the event you assign the wrong advisor make sure to delete the incorrect relationship one as soon as possible so the student doesn't receive conflicting information.
    • Students will not receive an email when you delete or modify an existing relationship.
