Best format for STB emulator on Kitkat 4.4 kitkat ?

Issue #199 new

Hi,

I am a IPTV prodiver and I would like to use STB emulator for my clients who use Android boxes. I have tried to use MPEG-4 streams using the Xtream codes panel and I have tried to use FFmpeg to restream my streams and it did make a difference. The streams using VLC to restream were only playing audio and no picture but using FFMpeg to restream my MPEG -4 streams did have the video working also along with audio, However the picture was not clear. The video quality is a bit pixalated and to best describe it, it is like a camera that keeps on re-focusing.

So what I would ultimateley want to know is, what is the best video format to use for the VLC plugin mediaplayer on the STB emulator ? I have heard that HLS is good but I have not tried it yet.

I would really appreciate if you could help me to choose the best video format so my streams work. I do not want to use an external player as you loose the Stalker's best features, so it would have to be a format that works on VLC plugin if that is possible on Kitkat 4.4 Set top boxes.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi. If you want to support most of devices you'd better use android's internal player (menu->Media player->Internal player), not VLC. Because VLC is in beta at this moment and may crash sometimes. And I use VLC by default only because it supports more formats and theoretically (but not in practice, unfortunately) can work with any provider on any device, unlike Android's player. You may find a list of formats supported by Android here: http://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/media-formats.html . Most of these formats work on every device (at least middle end and high end).

Hi Maxim, Thank you for your fast reply, really appreciate it. I have already tried the Internal player and it has not worked unfortunately. The closest I have got was last night when I used the Xtream code's new panel and I put the streams as HLS and MPEGTS as its output. The channels work now using the default VLC player but the only problem now is, the channels have a slight issue where it looks as though the screen is re-focusing and on sports matches the picture drags when they move at high speeds. So I have nearly got there now but would you know how I can fix this last issue of clarity of the picture. The actual streams are very clear so I know that is it when I play it in VLC defualt player that I get this issue. I totally get that it is still in beta and if there is something I could do to assist you to get the VLC default player more stable and compatible with different formats do let me know. I look forward to hearing from you again mate. Thanks.
