VLC playback stuttering

Hi, i bought a brand new android box w/ cortex a9 and mail 450 processor/gpu. Playback with MX player works perfectly as it gets accelerated. However the vlc plugin stutters as i supposed it doesn't use the gpu Also the built in player plays only one channel than it takes a very long time to load or just never loads another channel

Is there any way to enable gpu acceleration for the vlc plugin? or am i missing something else?
