Reinstall Version after repository change

Issue #2 invalid
Massimo Varriale created an issue

Hi Vitor, as you moved from github to a "repository" version (it's much better for updates, thanks!) I would like to know how to remove completely the installed version before installing new version 5.5.1.

If I use repository to install version 5.5.1 with my version 5.5 installed it's always showing that version is 5.5 and the content I can see is different from another installation I've done in another RaspberryPI and also username/password is stored even if all add-ons has been uninstalled…so I think something is cached somewhere…

Can you help me to remove everything regarding previous installation add-on before installing new version?

Muito obrigado! Max

P.S. Eu gostaria te agradecer oferecendo um chope por voce, tem uma pagina paypal?

    Hey Max,

Settings are kept even if you uninstall the addon, if I recall correctly. But the addon should be able to overwrite it without problems if reinstalled, even if it's a different version.

Anyhow, addons and settings are kept on a configuration folder. For linuxes, it is usually ~/.xbmc.

From there, plugins are stored on the addons folder. Uninstalling an addon just removes the folder from this path. And settings are stored on userdata/addon_data/plugin.name

You can delete both folder and just reinstall the plugin from the repository.

I really appreciate the donation offer :) I'll set up a page and let you know.

    Cheers.

HI Vitor, I've removed all contents I found in the folder you suggested me..

    I have three more questions:

    1. Why the contents I can see is different from different installation I have? I have a Raspberry PI and an AppleTV and looking at "The Voice Brazil" for example I can see different choices..On Raspberry I can see "Primera Temporada" and "Segunda Temporada", on AppleTV I do not have those menu. All contents has been removed on Raspberry where I've attempted to reinstall your plugin

    2. The playback even if SD sometimes is choppy and it's often buffering. Using a PC is much better, why? What could be the problem?

    3. I will be very glad to thank you for your hard work as my wife (she is Brazilian) can watch Globo videos on the TV and not on a small screen as a PC, this can also help her to be "virtually" near to her country watching her favorites Novelas and programs…so where is your donation page? Do you have a paypal account? I think that other people too would like to thank you for your hard work!

Muito obrigado mesmo! Ate logo Max

    Hi Max,

    1. This could be due to caching. The plugin holds a copy of the shows structure, to prevent it from hitting the website every time it starts. The caching is handled by a 3rd party plugin, developed by xbmc itself. It should hold the cache for 24h only, but it's still shady on how it goes on discarding the current data and getting new copies of the content.

    2. Another user has complained about that, and empirically, while testing, I felt HD videos had a higher throughput than SD. This might be due to how much memory XBMC has configured to handle buffering according to video quality. But this is just a guess.

    3. I've set up a donation button at the first post of the plugin's thread at xbm's forum. ;) Thank you for the support!

I wish I could be more helpful.
