Hi, thanks for the report. Looks like a particular feature from Steam Overlay is missing here; can you try running the game without steam overlay enabled?
Also can you please confirm your version of macOS - 10.13.4? As far as I can see, the latest version is 10.13.3 at the time of writing (https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201222) and that's the version we're running on our mac dev machine atm.
Here's a screenshot of the game running perfectly fine from Steam on that version, tested just now...
