Binding any action to button 0 (xbox 360 controller) on windows causes a crash

Steps to reproduce:

1. Have an Xbox 360 controller plugged in
2. Revert your settings to the default by deleting or renaming your sphereFACE.cfg (you can find it in the same folder as the exe)
3. Launch the game
4. Hit ESC
5. Go to Options > Controls
6. Select "Configure" under "Controller Configuration" on the Controller menu
7. Edit the "Custom 1" configuration by selecting the button labeled by the same name
8. Left click any action
9. Press the "A" button (button 0) on your controller

I've attached the console output when reproducing this bug on the current steam version.
