I'm able to confirm this issue, present with jira 7.3.1 and Threaded Comments 1.16. After a bit of digging it seems threaded Comments is using JEditor although comments are configured to use wiki style editor.

Is there a possibility to influence the renderer used by threaded comments?

From what I can see, the problem is that when the "Reply" option is selected, sometimes JEditor appears and sometimes the Wiki Style editor appears. If you get JEditor, then sometimes you're going to have a problem. JEditor shouldn't appear as the editor because it's not configured as the renderer.

Unfortunately, I'm unable to reproduce the problem on demand.

Do you still see this problem on new comments with Version 1.22? On which kind of Project do you see this problem Jira Software Project oder Jira Service Desk Project? Or both?

I haven't been able to reproduce this problem with versions 1.21 or 1.22. Everytime that I hit the "Reply" button, now I always get the Wiki Style editor. So, that's good.

However, I notice that with version 1.21 and version 1.22 you can no longer @mention and I'm pretty sure that this used to work (at some stage).
