Cannot select audio input/output for audio modem

Issue #112 resolved
Former user created an issue

This is occurring on a very fresh MBP 14" with the M1 Pro chip. I understand that this could be an issue with trying to run the software on the new silicon or perhaps an issue with macOS 12.0.

When I try to add a new Audio Modem, there are no inputs/outputs that I can select from. I have confirmed that Blackhole is setup and am able to send audio out from CubicSDR.

Other than this, the software looks great. I'm so excited that someone put the time and effort into building a Mac-native app like this!

I will go after the OS difference first and try and get macOS 12 on a laptop to see if that is the problem

I have now had a chance to install QTH.app on macOS 12.0.1 and it does correctly list the audio devices.

At some point, when you were running the app, it should have prompted you for permission to access the microphone. Did you perhaps click deny?

No that looks to be correct as well. I double checked my privacy settings and QTH has microphone access.

Can you check something else for me? Can you try adding a “KISS Serial TNC” connection and see if it is able to list the serial ports in your system? The API I’m using for enumerating audio devices is effectively the same as enumerating serial devices. I’m trying to determine if the whole API is acting differently on the M1 or if it is just the audio devices.

When you get a chance, can you test the latest version on your M1 and see if the audio devices are properly enumerated now? I made some changes in 0.6.3 that might affect this.

Based on a report from someone with a M1 Mac, I believe audio devices can be selected now, as of 0.6.3+
