Only by the first get capabilty request other functions of the GUI become disabled.

By a second get capabilty request a user has no feedback when it is finished.

This is a not release critical problem. The request function needs dependent on server data currently something between 0.2 to 5 seconds.

I think that the GUI is never explicitly/visibly blocked by us, neither by the first, nor by the second call. The UI simply becomes unresponsive during the transaction. You effectively propose to add a blocking "progress" dialog comparable to retrieving the map here?
