the plugin api is generally included in the plugin_template.h header file. for example, in the current release of control studio 2, the plugin_template.h header file contains the following definitions: all functions in rtxi are private and can only be accessed by the software upon which they are implemented. the software is not thread-safe, but the gui thread is protected from concurrent access to the gui via a lock that can be acquired via the guilocker structure (fig 3a). certain functions (e.g., fig 3d) require use of global variables, which must be declared as static prior to their use. global variables can be declared using the static structure (fig 3e) in the rtxi header file. once declared, the static variables remain accessible throughout the code for that module. rtxi provides a custom module that provides a simple tcp/ip interface to the user. with this module, the user can send data between rt and the gui thread to exchange a variety of parameters or results. using this module, the user can dynamically alter the software parameters and run the code in rt or the gui thread as needed. further, this module provides a simple network structure that enables the user to implement communication protocols and then send and receive data. the rtxi system includes a python server application that can act as a central hub for all incoming and outgoing data. with this, a user can link with various external software programs or daq modules. this application provides a standard interface to the user, with a simple gui through which the user can view all relevant information. these gui elements can be combined with custom code written in python or c++ to provide a powerful network analysis system. 6a6f617c0c
