reporter added -mpegts_m2ts_mode 1 when mpegts output format is used, let's see if it helps
This is done by using m2ts target container. Done for Samsung profiles, seems to work for C series, need a tester for B series.

Great! I will probably use this "-mpegts_m2ts_mode 1" format for transcoding output format with Sony Bravia devices. This will certainly create more stable streams.

reporter Illico - I tried it on my Sony and it got stuck on the first frame, but feel free to try - might be just some profile change is needed, as it will not produce _ISO profiles, but _T.

FFmpeg currently only supports muxing into mpeg ts (ISO) format with 188 byte packets - therefore the timestamp is missing. We have to wait for them to implement M2TS muxer with 192 byte packets including timestamp (discussed eg here: http://www.listware.net/201006/mplayer-ffmpeg-devel/112612-re-ffmpeg-devel-bdav-blu-ray-muxer-formatspecs.html).
That would hopefully sort out timecode of the video and therefore subtitles placement.
