Account Deleted After various tests (see me on other topics) it seems that a really nice option for transcoding for Viera TVs would be to MPEG2-TS at 1280x720 with black bars if necessary to preserve the aspect ratio. The TV does not like some other video sizes such as 848x480 and assumes a 4:3 format expanded to 4:3 Full to make up 16:9. The black bars would be essential to preserve the aspect ratio as otherwise wide screen films (for example) would be stretched up and down.
