Sony 2010 Audio Sync Issues

Issue #485 invalid
Former user created an issue

Audio and Video get out of sync on mkv / avc on Sony 2010 after approx 15 minutes but varies from file to file. I've tested since the release of 0.6.0, posted on forum and Zip changed the profile to play natively but its very unreliable now I've had time to test over a long period. As per forum posting it appeared to work fine initially.

These files for Sony 2010 should be transcoded to mpeg2 (as per release 0.5.x) to be 100% reliable.

I've tested the same files on a Sony 2011 via the same gigacabled network and proved its a limitation of the tv.

It also appears to overload the 2010 models on HQ MKV, while they play the tv cannot respond to input from the remote. Even when turned off, when turned back on its still playing the movie!

I've manually changed my profile back to transcode and confirm it all all behaving and working as expect.

can you post on the beta forum? Does that mean we should merge 2010 and 2011 profiles then?

I do sometimes get audio sync issues on my Bravia 2010, if it happens it only occurs the first 3 minutes of playback. I just pause the video and press play. Audio sync gets fixed throughout the video.

We would if I kept my 2010 set, I sold and got a 2011 Sony which has a faster CPU so doesn't have this issue.

I don't think its a serviio issue, it appears to be more of a hardware limitation with the tv's cpu (whatever it is) not able to cope / keep up. This got flagger by others on the forum in the 0.5x release and the default was set to transcode to mpeg2 to avoid the problem. Later releases of serviio did native playback and the problem was back. 2010 sets are good but cpu is weaker that 2011 imo as 2011 has no issues for me even with some pretty awkward files.

I confirmed (tested on 1.0beta with EX500 2010 model): no issue with mkv / avi files (mostly transcoded).

If you still have sync issues with latest 1.0 version, please, provide samples files.
