Mark Live Streams with "videoBroadcast"

Issue #523 new
Former user created an issue

In DLNA live streams can be marked with object.item.videoitem.videoBroadcast instead with object.item.videoitem only. At least on the WDTV this results in a much faster start of the stream less buffering, because normally WDTV reads as data as fast as possible to fill the buffer, however lifestreams have a fixed data rate and it can take a while until this buffer is filled, as soon as the object is marked with VideoBroadcast playback starts much fast, i.e. WDTV does not wait until the buffer is full. Perhaps it can be an option to the device profile or the life stream in order not to break with boxes that do not support VideoBroadcast

I suspect this issue also impacts the Sony SMP-N200. I would please request that an option to "MIME for Live Streams" be added - hopefully this could be done withouy breaking other profiles that work happily.
