No digital audio

Issue #825 wontfix
Former user created an issue

My signal path is:

PC>XBOX 360>INTEGRA RECEIVER>Samsung TV

I installed serviio today and it is playing video well and there is sound. When I am using the Xbox(not serviio) it decodes and has dolby digital. When I stream the file(via servillo to Xbox) it only has analog audio. I have tried a number of different files and get the same results Ideas?

In codec info from VLC it says it is a MPEG AAC Audio(mp4a)

Depends if the file is transcoded or not, I guess. For native files Serviio doesn't touch the file and plays it as it is.

Not sure this is a bug.

Can you post ffmpeg -i for the file?

So this is MKV file with H264 / ac3 (dolby d) streams.

Are you saying you can play this file on x360 via USB? At least via DLNA, the 360 doesn't support MKV, so the file is transcoded to ASF / WMV/ WMA (stereo). That's what is available as a transcoding format for the 360.

Yes, the Xbox is receiving a stream of all my video files. The video quality appears to be very good. The audio however, does not appear to be in a digital(that my receiver is decoding) format. The sound is there, just not surround sound.

*** I just re-read your post. I'm streaming these via the servillo to my xbox not playing them off of a usb port.

Serviio (with the Xbox profile) only supports WMA stereo as a target container for transcoding
