Subtitles stops working after ~37 minutes for every TV Show in 1.7 version. The same subtitles worked correctly on 1.6.X.

What device? External, embedded or burned in? Please post detailed log of playing the file.

I have the same problem. Multiple shows. But i think it is related to the size. It looks likes it stops after almost exactly 32K. But i could also be completely wrong about it.

    LG TV, Synology DLNA.

Same issue here. No transcoding used (I am ussing BubbleUPnP for transcoding), renderer is Chromecast, but the same happens when I only use local rendered and render it to MX Player on my Android device. The subtitles always stops before the end of the movie (seems to be related to the amount of lines processed on SRT subtitles).

I downgraded to 1.6.1 and the same files, the same subtitles and the same renderers works absolutely correctly.

I do not understand how this can be a minor priority issue, this seems to be a critical and makes Serviio pretty much useless for movies playback.

Can you guys reproduce this in MediaBrowser?

And it it just with soft subs or does it happen with burned-in subtitles too?

Yes, the same happens in MediaBrowser. Subtitles stops on exactly same spot for the video in MediaBrowser as they do on any other renderer I used. I use only soft subs. I'm sorry I can not tell whether the same is for burned-in or not - I already downgraded my whole library to 1.6.1 since 1.7 is not usable anymore and I do not really plan to upgrade anymore anytime soon. Took me half my day today to re-index my whole library, do not want to do it ever again.

Ok, think I have a fix. Can you guys pm me (zip) on the forum to be added to the betatester group so that you can test this when 1.7.1 beta is ready?

I investigated more and found out that the missing subtitle lines (sometimes it stops in the middle of a line) at the end are related to the encoding of the .srt file. Usually my .srt files are in Windows-1250 (CP1250) encoding. This causes the problem in my setup (Serviio 1.8 -> Kodi 16/17). I found out that the number of missing lines is directly related to the number of non-ASCII (non 7-bit) characters in the file. If I replace one 'a' with the accent (acute-a - 0xe1 in CP1250) with regular 'a' character (0x61 in ASCII) somewhere at the beginning of the .srt file I will get one more character on the last line displayed in Kodi. Similarly, if I add on space at the end of the .srt file I also get one additional character displayed on the last line. To sum it up, the number of displayed subtitle characters is equal to the total number of characters minus the total number of non-ASCII characters.
