trackir x axis reversed

Issue #161 resolved
Former user created an issue

trackir4 with track clip pro pitch/yaw/roll work fine. Moving my head up and down or forward and backward is fine. But moving it left moves my head in game to the right. Moving my head right moves my head in game to the left.

Can workaround in trackir app by setting the x axis to invert. Before doing that it's pretty disorienting!

Very interesting. I didn't have that issue with my OpenTrack clip.

Could this be a problem with how TrackIR's own software interacts with XWVM (or vice versa)?

installed opentrack and got it running. It has the same issue. In OpenTrack options under Output Remap, I have to select invert for x

Just to be clear, this is not about turning my head. It's about moving it side to side. I can look left or right just fine. Rotation is correct, translation is reversed (in the x axis only)

I guess it depends on each person's setup and hardware and config and all of that.

We aren't going to get a common thing working, I fear. So we will have to add an "Invert movement" checkbox under every possible axis. :/

Could this have something to do with how the tracking-clip is mounted on the headset? On most photos, the official TrackIR-clip is mounted on the left while the custom-built one I bought is mounted on the right.

huh. well if it's only inverted for some people, a toggle is needed. As there's one in the trackir (or opentrack) software already, it's not the most pressing thing!

I agree with MamiyaOtaru. It's interesting, but there's a toggle in the tracker software settings, and setting tracking profiles for each game is SOP for head tracking use. This "bug" does not affect gameplay.

I have dug out my Headtracking hardware again and it does look like my x-axis is inverted as well afterall. My apologies for missing that. Also, ticking "invert" fixes it on my end, too.

I have TrackIR 5 and also have the x-axis backwards in XWVM. Inverting it in the TrackIR software is an easy workaround. All other axes seem to work normally (and it's really cool I might add).

Just got my testing setup running and by default the side to side axis was inverted as well. Not exactly a big deal as side to side movement is more just a neat feature than super necessary but having the option to invert it in the menu would be handy instead of having to do it in TrackIR's software. Disabling the side to side could be an option as well since there are plenty of games that don't use it at all.

I'm using a TrackIR 5 with the hat clip.

as it is in fact reversed for everyone, I'd be for just flipping it in XWVM, no toggle needed. Low priority still (with the workaround in the tracking software itself), but it'd be nice to have it work out of the box eventually. And please don't disable translation, it's a good part of the immersion :)
