Y-Wing Radar Sensor Viewability

Issue #176 resolved
Tad Hashimoto created an issue

After spending some time tonight playing with the controls and head tracking interface, I noticed that the "radar" sensor displays in the 3D Y-Wing pit are next to useless. Even if I crane my head around to look directly at them (removing my focus from the HUD and making it difficult to fly), they're still smaller than the ones in the pit-less view.

After examining the pictures, I suspect this issue might be solved by some slight edits to the 3D pit.

I believe the problem is the size and positioning of the sensors in the pit relative to the default POV. If the sensors were each made a hair larger, and moved outboard a bit to keep the sensor housings from interfering with the outside view, the sensor view might be improved. Another option would be to "flatten" out the 3D pit and move the default POV forward a bit (Z axis). This would make all of the displays visible without interfering with the outside view.

I think some of the problem I'm having also has to do with the "fuzziness" in the sensors compared to what I'm used to with original versions of the games. I'm not sure if this is intentional, but it's hard to make out individual contacts on the sensors or map as everything seems a bit blurred. With a relatively smaller sensor display, it's even harder to make out these fuzzy sensor blips.

Are you still experiencing this issue? Have you been able to try disabling the icons on the scopes and using the traditional dots?
