Line Astern and Double Astern formations are staggered rather than straight

This is probably intentional, but in XWVM formations that would place craft directly behind another stagger the formation so that the craft behind is also very slightly beside. I expect this was done so that AI craft do not shoot each other while in formation, which makes sense to me.

However, it is actually noticeable in some missions such as T1M9, so I thought it might be useful to have an issue (even if it's simply closed as WONTFIX) for reference.

Is this consistent in the original even with fligth groups that don't include the player's ship?

It can be seen in T5M1 with the B-Wing group, anyway. I would have to see if I can find or manufacture an example for aggressive craft, but it would probably be hard to tell: it's barely noticeable if you're not in the formation yourself.
