Player B-Wing collides too easily

Issue #36 wontfix
J. King created an issue

The collision hitbox of the player's B-Wing (possibly all B-Wings) should not include the fixed S-foil below the spacecraft body. This can be trivially verified by nosing down when exiting between freighters Upside and Downside in BWHM1.

The bottom foil does, however, seem to get hit by laser fire.

Only Y-wing Historical missions are supposed to be tested. Anyway, colliders in the freighter model do not match exactly those in original X-wing, so it makes this mission very prone to start with a collision.

I am not sure we should make the lower wing collision-less. It feels like a hacky way to make this particular mission work.

I would imagine the hack was put into the original game to make the Death Star trench run's close dodging and weaving more consistent with an X-Wing, more than anything. I wasn't suggesting that the problem was with the freighter, but rather with the B-Wing. For reference, I stuck a B-Wing's s-foils (and even a small bit of its body) into a transport to illustrate:

That's with invulnerability -off-, of course, with the approach done from cockpit view and the camera changed afterward. I did collide several times before managing it, so that's probably about the extent of the non-colliding portion.

And, yeah, I know we're not supposed to be testing those missions, but better to document regardless, right?

We will review this issue once we get to deal with the Death Star missions. Meanwhile, it's indended behavior in XWVM that collisions are more precise than in X-Wing.
