Progress database dialect
Issue #2119
resolved
does sqlalchemy support Progress database engine? If not, is there a time frame when the dialect will be developed?

repo owner First off it appears to only support ODBC so someone would have to ensure pyodbc or perhaps mxodbc can interface Python to it. Also there appears to be scant information on this database on the web - the leading hit is not the vendor itself: http://www.smart-it-consulting.com/catindex.htm?node=46 there is also a PDF on the progress site: http://www.progress.com/progress/products/datasheets/docs/rdbms.pdf . There's not much anyone can do here without a developer that has the time and access to this product.

"alternate" dialects like these can now be tackled as projects external to SQLAlchemy itself.

Not sure if I've ever heard of Progress. A general rule of open source projects is that timeframes are generally determined by someone stepping up to contribute.
