LB/BB User Profiles or Library Filters

Hey Jason,

Let me start by saying thank you for all your hard work. Launch/Big Box is already THE best front end out there. Such an awesome product and im so glad i went all in on it.

Now to business. One feature I would really love is a way to filter my views at a higher level. Sort of like a profile on your netflix account if you will. I have 50-60k games on my arcade build. I am never going to play all these games and i dont want to see all of them. I would much rather make a best of group of maybe a few hundred, 1k max that is listed most times. However, my son has different tastes or maybe i want to filter out mature or ultra violent games from him... Then maybe some people come over for a party and i want to open it up because everyones childhood had different games in it and maybe their favs arent on my curated list. I still want access to ALL games at will if i want. Maybe there is already a way to do this but i havent figured it out. but i think it would be an excellent addition that doesnt seem like it would be terribly hard to add? I would love to have profiles/views/high level filters, whatever you want to call them to create playlists collections that can turn on and off specific playlists at will, a macro if you will. Thanks for your consideration. Cheers, Drake

This is exactly the situation I am in. The kids have a different taste that myself. Would love to have a profile choice in big box that is like Netflix.

Totally agree - and there are many new features that would benefit from being user specific like achievements.

A hearty +4 from me and my family! It would also be amazing to be able to keep game saves and shader preferences separate

Thanks for the amazing program you guys have made, it makes organizing my collection a breeze.

I basically asked the same question but started another thread, so I’ll be deleting that one and just pasting my request here, stoked that others feel the same way! 😃 Thanks @Martin Conroy for letting me know this thread was already active, really appreciate it 😄

“One thing I’ve always wanted though is the ability to change profiles on launchbox so that i can switch from “PC Games” to “Retro Games” to “Software” for example as once you have around 1000 titles of various different platforms it can get a little messy. Another reason I’d like this feature is because I often have my younger brother with me and I have to search through tons of my more violent adult-oriented titles to find some of the family friendly ones. I realize you can just make genres/playlists with the titles you want to sort out quickly, which is what I do at the moment, but with such a large collection I think it’d be a worthwhile feature to have a one-click profile switch.”

The lack of this feature is the only reason I’m still using Hyperspin. I’d buy bigbox in a heartbeat when it becomes available.

I would also love to see user profiles implemented into Launchbox, with the ability to have multiple user profiles logged in and assigned to a specific player per session. These individual user profiles then track that players obtained high scores, retro achievements, game saves etc. A guest profile that doesn’t track any of these features would also be handy.

I’ve recently shown my Daughter the high score community leader board, and she was absolutely thrilled that her score had made it into the weekly rankings, she wasn’t so thrilled to see it credited under my username. 😂 If multiple user profiles are implemented and they are registered to an account on the launchbox games database, could any high scores obtained and submitted to the community leader boards then be credited to the individual user profile that has obtained the score.

    This would be absolutely amazing

Multi user login would be awesome. At the moment in order to manages saves for multiple users I have to prompt for the user via a script each game and then do some robocopy shennanigans to keep everyone on their own save files.
Would be awesome to not have to do this.
