Playing files with extrnal srt subtitles crashes the app

Issue #99 resolved
Mateusz Krawczyński created an issue
  1. Every time I try to play a video with external srt subtitles the app crashes , on both of my computers.
  2. Deleting the subtitle file and refreshing library makes the video file playable, albeit without subs.
  3. Subtitles are encoded using UTF-8

Internal subtitles like srt or ssa work flawlessly.

    I downloaded movie and subtitles from here: https://durian.blender.org/download/ 1024 x 436 (123 MB. mp4, 5.1) copy.

Tried to play it and it still crashes on my Windows Mobile phone and 2 desktop PCs. Emby Theater and Web Interface work just fine. I tried to find something in Emby logs, but there is nothing there.

English. When I return from work, I will try with an empty subtitle file.

Reinstalling Emby and Windows didn't help.

And it still crashes, even when the subtitles file is empty.

I am out of ideas why this is happening.

Ok, I thought that it might be an issue caused by the server which runs on Windows 10 Anniversary Update. So I installed Emby 6030 on an old Windows 7 laptop and created a video library with single movie in it.

It still crashed, but after deleting the empty srt file the video played without issues.

After looking through the debug logs from this one-movie server I found something (maybe) useful: http://pastebin.com/raw/Lrw74jGD

Edit: I tested it again, but on a different network. Still crashes.

    I got this one.

Renaming srt file from 'Sintel (2010).srt' to 'Sintel (2010).English.srt' stopped the app from crashing.
