Golden Palace a major problem with UV.
Hi,
Diffeomorphic / import_daz / issues / #949 - is Merge UV layer geograft still different than version ? — Bitbucket i closed this , to open a issue here to explain clearly what’s going on.
I am using Diffeo plugin version 1.6.1.0785 (December 2021)
This version of the plugin gave awesome results regarding merge UV, and regarding golden palace.
Here are the UV of this version:

In blender, or even in unreal engine when you export after importing from daz, the last version of the plugin give inapropriate uv results compared to version 1.6.10785 which was perfect.

in my opinion this problem occur because the plugin doesnt import this UV map:

As I understand it, you can use the “merge uv layers“ tool to merge anything you want the way you want. So you may just use it instead of the automatic merge. Personally I never merge uvs because it is not necessary in blender. But I don’t export to game engines either.

Why ?
because
Golden Palace UV is imported.
The last version of the plugin does ignore this UV.
and here how it looks like:
as you can see a lot of UV are missings.

reporter So alessandro when there is no uv properly imported there is nothing to merge haha

Here seems to work fine, all the uv maps are imported correctly. Test scene included golden.duf.

I am using golden palace 8.1 with genesis 8.1
and they are not imported.

reporter with an old version of the plugin 1.6.1 they will be imported, but will the last version the UV they are not imported.

Yes I’m using 1.6.2.0995 and blender 3.1.2, just import doing nothing else and the uv maps are there. Doesn’t my test scene work for you ?
As for 8.1 you have to check the shell visibility since diffeo only works with surfaces, not face groups.

Do you mean my test scene doesn’t work for you with 1.6.2 ?
edit. Ok in your video you’re using a HD figure that’s a different beast. And you never mentioned HD. Going to check ..

reporter your file is a genesis 8 , i don’t use genesis 8 since long time.
i use victoria 8.1 HD, with golden palace 8.1 with shell.
take a victoria 8.1 HD add golden palace 8.1 add shell add materials
use this old version of the plugin it works.
use most recent one it will not work

reporter i just don’t understand what changes has been made recently to the plugin, that ignore the uv shell for golden palace victoria 8.1 HD.
it work great with the old version of the plugin i linked.

Well as for your test scene I get a number of missing files I don’t have so they get skipped, but this shouldn’t affect anything as for the uvs. Then once loaded I don’t get the golden palace shell. That is, it looks like you didn’t add the gp shell in your scene, and that’s why the shell uvs and materials don’t get exported.

reporter oh sorry i sent wrong file but you don’t need my file.
actually you know you don’t need my file, as i said in my first post you need
- Victoria 8.1 HD
- Golden palace 8.1 with shell
there is nothing i should send, you should have only those 2 to test that’s it.
you export with old version of the plugin that i linked, and with new version of the plugin and you compare very simple.

the bug is there.

reporter this bug is only with golden palace and only with 1.6.2 version
works fine, with 1.6.1 ( what i am using now)

Here is a golden-hd.duf scene that’s Victoria 8.1 HD with golden palace. Exports fine here. To export HD geografts you have to enter the geometry editor as explained in the docs.

reporter check my last video its cristal clear that there is an obvious bug with 1.6.2

because my video is crystal clear that the bug is there.

Here works fine with 1.6.2.
In your video you don’t export HD. So both my test scenes with G8F and Victoria 8.1 HD should work fine for you. Don’t they ?
edit. Watched your last video and I see nothing wrong. I do the same thing and works fine here. May be it’s something in the global settings here’s mine. Especially “multiple uv layers” may be the case here.
edit. note. important. Since you keep two versions of the addon, you have to use two versions of the exporter as well. In your video I see you export from the daz menu, may be you’re using the 1.6.1 exporter with the 1.6.2 importer that may not work fine this way. Instead of using the daz menu you can access directly the script folder to select the right exporter.

reporter I am just trying to go under commits, and find what changes has downgraded this and make it not work in 1.6.2.
but works fine in 1.6.1

here is another video, both 1.6.1 and 1.6.2 have same settings. and multiple uv layer activated. but still a problem with 1.6.2
