Merge Meshes

Modern DAZ characters consist of multiple meshes. This is most pronounced for Genesis 9, where eyelashes, eyebrows, mouth, eyes and tears are separate from the main body mesh. We may want to merge those meshes into a single mesh, although doing so is not necessary if we intend to stay within Blender.

Blender has a standard tool for joining meshes. However, we can alternatively use the Merge Meshes tool.

Select all meshes to join and make the body mesh the active object.

  • Merge UV Layers:
  • Allow Overlap:

If the UV layers have different names and Merge UV Layers option was disabled, the resulting mesh has several UV layers, which should be merged with the Merge UV Layers tool afterwards. If the option is enabled the UV layers are merge automatically.
