Merge Materials

Sometimes meshes have several materials which are in fact identical; they use the same textures and have the same settings.

Select the Bardot skirt and press Merge Materials to combine identical materials.

This tool has one option: Ignore Bump Strength. The bump distance depends on the area covered by the material, and thus typically differ between materials with bump maps, even if they have the same settings in DAZ Studio. This is particularly useful for merging UDIM materials, because the bump distance is in general different after textures have been combined into UDIM textures.

The skirt had five materials, but after the merge it only has three. The Skirt1-1 material have been merged to Skirt2-1, and Skirt3-1 to SkirtFrill-1. This information is written in the terminal window:

Skirt1-1 = Skirt2-1
Skirt3-1 = SkirtFrill-1
Note that merging materials removes the possibility of edit the different materials separately.
