Autofocus: add option to ignore the first n values

Issue #1176 closed

Hallo,
I have the problem that the first measuring point is always off (sometimes the first two). I found no way so far to solve this, even if choosing a smaller step size. I use overshoot, I have obtained a quite exact value for the offset.

So I propose to add an option to ignore the first n values, from the lift side, right side or both.

Working around problems in the hardware by loading up the software with workarounds really isn’t a strategy we agree with. If you have mechanical issues with your focuser mechanism, you should really work with your vendor to correct these as I must say this particular example is neither a common condition or an expected one.

Hi, thank you for the proposal, but this is not going to happen. Check manually which part is the root cause. It could be star detection not working properly, or in fact mechanical issues of the focuser. Rather these should then be adjusted. The main issue is, that if the first focus point fails, so will the last focuser movement to the final position not work properly and ignoring the first points would only obfuscate the problem but not solve it.
