Focuser temperature compensation use should be clearer
There are two different mechanisms in NINA that relate to adjusting the focuser in response to temperature changes:
-
The Sequence screen, where one can toggle on/off a setting to make NINA, independent of the ASCOM focuser driver, re-focus every N degrees in temperature change between exposures. While this is some form of temperature compensation, it is not the in-driver temperature compensation that is independently driven and can happen during an exposure if the driver deems it necessary.
-
The
AnchrorableFocuserView
is the only area in NINA where one can turn on/off in-driver Temperature Compensation.
I think when people think of "Temperature Compensation", it's (2) that they usually think of - ie, compensation that is driven by the driver than by the app. We should discuss how to make the distinction between the two clearer, and consider conditions where both NINA and in-driver temperature compensation are enabled and any ramifications that may have.
