Impossible to connect to ASCOM driver of ATIK internal filter wheel
Hello, NINA is unable to connect to the internal filter wheel of my ATIK ONE 6.0.
SGP used with the same ASCOM driver perfectly connects to this wheel, so I do not think it is a ASCOM driver problem. I did not try native drivers, I saw that they are not implemented in NINA.
Thanks,
Olivier.

Yes, this error might happen if you are using an older version of the Atik core software drivers with a 64bit NINA. I suggest making sure that you are current on those drivers before progressing. If it is the case that you continue to run into this problem after doing so, it is likely a problem with the Atik drivers. We are very strict about driver compliance with the ASCOM specifications and what might be acceptable in other applications will not be accepted by NINA.

You would try this way, but be careful if SGP does not work after that:

reporter Thanks for answer Roberto and Dale.
I installed NINA 64 bits. The ASCOM driver I have to use is not the same as EFW2 (I have the One with an internal filter wheel). But probably the same problem. I have redonwloaded and reinstalled ASCOM and Atik core sotware (4.2.2.1 since it is known that their newer V5 does not work, and I saw it myself), no change, same error. I will try to check compliance (I remember ASCOM has a tool for that… but where -:). We’ll see what happens.

reporter I remembered quickly ASCOM diagnostics says that this ASCOM driver is 32 bits ! Of course will not be accepted by NINA.
I have to request the good 64 bit driver to ATIK. Not sure it exists, though.
Thanks,
Olivier.

Olivier, I try today with the Ascom Platform 6.4SP1 + Atik drivers version 5.0.4.6. All works ok 64 bits environment. Ascom must to be updated.
This was the problem for me. I had ASCOM 6.1 version. If you don’t have 6.4SP1 ASCOM platform, Atik drivers 5.0.4.6 for Ascom (64bits) doesn’t work. The installation proces doesn’t install them.
Now, SGP and NINA are working ok.

is the solution provided by Roberto working for you too? If yes i can close this ticket.
-
reporter Not exactly
I have ASCOM 6.4 SP1 since more than one year
I tried a few days ago to update ATIK drivers to 5.X but these drivers did not work for me. The camera was not recognized. I saw on a forum that these V5 Atik drivers are known as buggy and had to reverse to V4.
What worked for me was to install the 32 bits version of NINA. Then I could connect all the equipment.
But I was not able to perform an imaging session because of a reproducible bug (Nina crash and closure) when setting a subframe, launching loop acquisition and requesting a focus movement. That prevented me to go further.
Thanks Roberto (and Stefan) for answers.

Anecdotally, I have heard that the following should work:
- Install latest ASCOM and latest Atik v5 drivers
- Upgrade to NINA latest nightly (v1.10) 64 bit
- Enable native driver for Atik ONE camera
- Use ASCOM driver for Atik filter wheel (it should appear as a separate filter wheel in the ascom list despite being integrated)
Note that I do not currently have an Atik camera with integrated filter wheel, but I hope to in the future, at which point perhaps the native driver will become possible for both. For now, please can you try the above and confirm?

reporter As I said before, ATIK V5 drivers were buggy for me, especially with SGP that is 32 bits.
As I want both SGP and Nina working together, I think I have to stick with 32 bits NINA.
Otherwse you are right, the wheel appears in ASCOM as 'Atik Internal filter wheel”

I tried NINA 1.10 Beta 002x64 and Atik 5.0.4.6 and it doesn’t work (Atik one 9.0). For me the only way to use NINA is 1.9
#86with the Atik 4.2.2.9 driver package.

Hello, I consider to buy an Atik One 6.0 camera. Was the problem with the filter wheel solved in the meantime? Is someone working on it? Thanks!
-
I wanted to inform that I am working on native internal filterwheel implementation. I would need people to test it so please come to the Discord as found on nighttime-imaging.eu so I can give you the test version.

darkarchon gave me a test version and it worked on an Atik One 9.0. Will be published in 1.11 I guess.

Nina Version 1.10 - having same issue (cannot connect filterwheel on Atik One 6.0).
Downloaded and installed latest Atik Core Software (they have stopped putting release codes on their software, and just put a release date - 20200623) - same issue ‘possibly 32 bit driver’ etc. No filterwheel!
Also NINA took a dislike to my focusser driver (which I know to be 64bit) - but it gave 6 lines of machine code as an error every time I tried to connect. This driver has a compliance report for ASCOM 6.0, works on ATP, AstroArt and Voyager.
I suspect that your preference for ‘strict’ ascom protocol is stretching existing drivers beyond their current limits. I am not sufficiently tecky to get Nina working on my machine. Sadly I have deleted it.

Hi, Olivier. I have the same issue with my EFW2. Have you installed 64 bits or 32 bits version of NINA?
