Canon error - EDS_ERR_DEVICE_BUSY

Issue #820 duplicate
Greig Louden created an issue

I frequently, but unpredictably encounter an error when trying to use my Canon EOS Ra with NINA.

At random times during image acquisition, I encounter the error:

“An unexpected error occurred. A Canon error occurred: EDS_ERR_DEVICE_BUSY. The error message repeats itself and I then have to restart NINA and reconnect my camera”

This appears to happen with all the nightly and stable versions of NINA I have tried. It does not seem to be related to exposure length and can happen when taking light or dark frames via the sequencer.

I am unsure if this is a problem with my camera or NINA, but do not seem to experience this type of problems when using alternative software (Backyard EOS)

I will attach log files from the incidents and would be grateful for any advice.

    Hello,

don't know if it helps, but I noticed that the CANON (me a 200d) generates this error ... and others when the images cannot be downloaded.
For example, has to abort the plate solvent over the cross, it can happen that the camera no longer downloads the last image from this point on, the image counter of the camera(Display) flashes for me otherwise nothing happens at first.
Then after another plate solve or take up the error suddenly occurs. what then is that I have to disconnect the camera hard from the USB port, because if only the camera is switched off, it tries to save the last pictures without success.
So in summary, if you cancel any action with the X button, the last picture is not loaded and the camera finally hangs up ...

This happens to me quite often but not always to when i interrupt or stop a currently exposing image. The one workaround i found is to take the camera's battery out and then put it back in. In NINA it won't automatically the camera disconnecting when u take the battery out, so the next step is to go to the equipment's page disconnecting your camera and then reconnect it again.

I have same problem many times. During plate solve or even during image exposure. I have canon SL3/250d

maybe you will take a look at the issue number #900. There i tried to explain what is probably causing the problem. Maybe it will help you before the problem is solved.

    Hi all,

the canon driver implementation currently does not have an active maintainer. So fixes in that area take a while (if at all).
What you can try out however is looking into the available ascom driver for DSLRs which has been reported to work quite well. Maybe the issues won’t come up there. You can find details here: https://github.com/vtorkalo/ASCOM.DSLR

    Regards,
    Stefan
