QHY600M downloads 1/4 frame in Readout Mode 1

Issue #873 closed
Ronald Brecher created an issue

When the camera is set to readout mode 1, it downloads only the top 1/4 of the frame. This happens every time when the target is centred and autofocused. When those functions are turned off, or when shooting with the flat wizard, file sizes are correct.

This does not affect Readout Mode 0.

    Hi,

    thank you for the report.
A few details are missing however to analyze this in more detail.

    1. Are you using the native qhy driver or the ASCOM driver?
    2. You mention this is happening after centering and autofocus - does it happen only after that or all the time? What are your platesolve and autofocus settings if only those actions affect it?
    3. Can you provide the log file where you reproduce the issue
    4. The log file is stored in %localappdata%\nina\logs

    Thanks

    1. NINA Native driver
    2. I couldn’t determine if it happens after center, autofocus or both. It does not happen with flats or flat darks in the flat wizard. It does not happen if sequence begins with no autofocus and no center.

Attached graphics show autofocus and centering settings. I was using an Ha filter. Note that both centering was performed binned 2x2. Focus is 1x1 using the luminance filter, and I am imaging at 1x1.

The incorrectly downloaded file has the same dimensions as a 2x2 binned image, but is actually the top-left quarter of a 1x1 binned file (the correctly centred target appears at extreme lower right of the quarter-frame that gets downloaded).  Again, this only happens in Readout Mode 1. It doesn't happen in readout mode 0.

    Clear skies,
    Ron

@Ronald Brecher - could you please share what your camera settings are, from the equipment page after connecting the camera? I’m wondering whether the read modes for snapshot and lights are the same.

They don’t have to be the same, but I have a suspicion about an issue with QHY’s SDK. As an experiment, would you mind making them the same thing, restarting NINA, and seeing if this reproduces for you?

I have set both to mode 0 which is what I use most of the time. I will select mode 1 from within my sequence prior to acquiring narrowband light frames. Clear tonight, so I might have an update tomorrow.

I had no issues in Readout Mode 1 last night. I don’t seem to be able to reproduce the problem (which is a bit worrying) but perhaps something was done to fix it in the lastest nightly build?

@Ronald Brecher nothing in the QHY driver changed very recently. Are you saying this doesn’t reproduce for you at all, even with the mixed modes on the equipment page?
