Hello,

I suggest to use an image miniature instand of a solid grey box when selecting the sub-sampling area. Please see also screenshot.
Moreover I it would be nice to reset the area to image max in an quick way. e.g. double click or right click.

Some clarification: Use the image as background so you see where you drag the grey box.
