Live view image resultion to low for Bahtinov mask
Issue #940
closed
Description
I’m unable to focus my Skywatcher Esprit (80/400) scope with Canon EOS 6D (full-frame) with Bathniov mask in live view.
When I zoom in, I see the stars “pixels” and no spikes.
Steps to Reproduce
- Put Bathinov mask on scope (Skywatcher Esprit 80mm aperture, 400mm focal length)
- Connect DSLR camera (EOS 6D, Pixel size 6,5 µm, resolution 5.472 x 3.649 Pixel)
- Set high ISO value (e.g. ISO 25600)
- Enable live-view
- Zoom in (200-400%) to see the spikes
Expected behaviour
- See spikes in nearly the same resolution as with snapshot (e.g. ISO 25600).
- Same as with e.g. cameras internal screen and magnify button or APT and 10x zoom
Actual behaviour
- I can see pixels arround the star but no fine spikes.
- It seems as the zoom works on the basis of a low resolution overview image

Solved with Raw converter = DCRaw (Options -> Equipment) for Canon EOS 6D.

After some daystime tests, I figured out Raw converter = DCRaw (Options -> Equipment) leads to a more relastic live view and higher resolution for Canon EOS 6D.
