Won the battle with no usable pokemon

As my final move against the first gym leader,I had eevee use take down. It did enough to finish off ivysaur, but it also fainted my eevee. I still won the battle, and the game went on as normal, but I had no usable pokemon. I hadnt saved in a while, so I rushed to the pokemon center and saved after I healed, so I dont know ehat this bug could do to the game had I gone in the grass or something. Figured Id let you all know this was possible, at least.
