Receiving generic error response when saving a class or page that contains errors

Not entirely user how to reproduce. It seems I was once able to get error messages back and then at some point they stopped in place of a generic error message. I have copied and pasted my code to Salesforce to see what the error message actually is and it varies from misspellings, invalid method calls, syntax errors, etc.

So far this has happened on two different projects. One pointed to a developer instance and the other a sandbox environment.

I enabled logging and attached is the log after I receive the error.

Thanks, John. I did make a change in this area so it's likely this one is on me. Let me try to reproduce it a bit and if I'm unable to do so, I'll try to work with you to get a reproducible case.

Okay, it's trivial to reproduce and it is a side-effect of my recent change. Shame on me for not testing it better. I'll issue a fix very soon.
