Unable to update SFDX path

1. Install IntelliJ.
2. Add Illuminated Cloud plugin and update to version with SFDX support: IlluminatedCloud-14.zip.
3. Install SFDX executable.
4. Update SFDX path: File / Settings / Languages & Frameworks / Illuminated Cloud / Validation and Deployment. (C:/Program Files/Heroku/bin/sfdx.exe)
5. Click apply to see error: "Error: The connection credentials must be successfully verified." [screenshot attached] 6.Workaround: create a connection to any Salesforce org on the Connections tab. Hitting Apply or OK will work now.

Should have marked the duplicate the other way, but I'd already worked the issue against #639 and #665. The fix will be delivered in tomorrow's build that includes SFDX support in the official release.
