CUPS and poppler
Printer on USB local port: When trying to print I get an error: "error while loading shared libraries: libpoppler.so.43"
/usr/lib/libpoppler.so.55.0.0 exists. If I create a symlink to it named libpoppler.so.43, printing works.

Please try updating cups to version 2.1.3 from 7.2 untested and see if the problem persists.

reporter Upgraded cups to 2.1.3. Problem persists, it is looking for the wrong version of libpoppler.
-
Ok. This is not exactly cups, but something cups depends on is trying to access an older poppler version. That package most likely needs to be re-built against the newer poppler version.
-
reporter Okay, this error shows in "/var/log/cups/error_log". Line above the error references "/usr/lib/cups/backend/hp". Will keep looking.
-
That
/usr/lib/cups/backend/hp
is provided by hplip, but I just checked it, and it does not look like it is looking for any version of poppler. -
reporter Beats the hell out of me, re-installed, created symlink, things work. Removed symlink and it still works, even after reboot. Enough of this for today.
-
reporter Another day, another test. This time I rebooted after upgrading cups. It is working. Call it fixed.
-
reporter - changed status to resolved
Upgrade cups + reboot fixed it for me.
