550 Quota Error for disabled / non existing email addresses

I have just noticed, that mails being sent to disabled or non existing mailboxes / emailaddresses (domain part of address exists!) are rejected with "550 Quota Error".

Is that correct? Should the reason for rejection not rather be: "550 mailbox unavailable"
