A hash in the users configuration file? Perhaps users want to use a central password storage system, probable there exists many APIs and standards for doing this. Which these could be, I don't know since I personally never use these features (I prefer to enter my password every time).

reporter But isn't storing two-way hashes considered bad practice?

As I said, I don't use these features at all (storing a password anywhere is bad practice).
I'd search for a ready solution from either JavaFX/Scene Builder or from your beloved Oracle. I tried, but didn't find (but then again, I am not a Java programmer).

It is probably bad practice for me as a user, but I often want my password to be remembered. In the case of Minority Translate, best option would be if it would automatically log you in based on the settings file.
The security issue is a wholly another side of this though, that I'm not competent to comment on. Some type of encryption might work?

reporter One option would be to display a warning when "Remember password" is checked.
