bins to large in the output of metabat2
Issue #101
resolved
Hello, the output of metabat2 generates some very large bins, on the order of 11 and 30 kbp. I suspect they are composites of mixed heterogeneous strains. Is there a way to debug these bins?

Hi,
I would suggest using the CheckM tool to check strain heterogeneity (https://ecogenomics.github.io/CheckM/). There is also a checkM narrative available at Kbase: https://kbase.us/n/33233/351/#step6
There could be several alternative explanations for very large bins, such as Eukaryotes, poor assembly, poor binning, etc.
Hope this helps.
Best,
Zhong
