Broadcasting on Vimm.TV

Publishing your first broadcast on Vimm.TV using OBS

  1. Customize your settings
    1. Go to your Settings page.
    2. Edit your offline image and the name for your guests chatters.
    3. Click the Save button to save your settings.
  2. Change your title and game
    1. Go to your Dashboard page.
    2. Edit your title and the game for your broadcast.
    3. Click the Save button to save your settings.
  3. Configure OBS

    1. Download OBS from their website.
    2. Start OBS.
    3. Click on the settings button.
    4. Stream tab:

      1. Set Stream Type to Custom Streaming Server and use the stream credentials from your Dashboard.
    5. Output tab:

      1. Set Output Mode to Advanced.
      2. Set your Keyframe Interval to 2 seconds (Not doing this may result in your stream not working properly).
      3. Set your Bitrate to anything between 1200 and 2000. (Going higher than that will result in your stream being choppy and/or not being playable at all.)
      4. Optional: If you have a Nvidia GPU that supports it, it is recommended to set your encoder to NVENC.
    6. Video tab:

      1. Select your Output (Scaled) Resolution and Common FPS Values. We recommend 1280x720 resolution and 30 FPS. Our servers can handle higher resolution and framerate, but not all viewers will have the bandwidth to handle it.
That's it! You can now click Start Streaming in OBS and if everything went right, your stream should now be live.

Steem exclusive features

Steem is a blockchain-based rewards platform for publishers to monetize content and grow their community.

Users who sign up to Vimm.TV using a Steem account are able to monetize their broadcasts using Steem's reward system.

How do I enable upvotes and other Steem features on my channel?

By default, your broadcast gets published to the steem blockchain shortly after you start bradcasting.

Vimm will generate a simple post with your thumbnail and a link to your channel. That post is then used by Vimm to integrate upvotes and post rewards to your channel page.

IMPORTANT: The "create new post every X hours" setting is your auto posting frequency. If you set it to 2 hours, a new post will be created when you go live, and 2 hours into the broadcast if you're still live.
