Tripwire / Getting Started

So you want to get started with the greatest wormhole mapper ever? It's pretty simple, the first thing you'll need to do is create an account over at https://tripwire.eve-apps.com/.

When you arrive on the homepage, assuming you don't already have an account you can go ahead and click on the green user registration button here:

This will bring up the user and admin registration pane. Making sure you're on the user tab, go ahead and fill in some basic details as per the tooltips. That username will be what you typically use to log in, I would recommend using your Eve character or a common username of yours so that you don't forget it. Be sure to also pick a strong password! While this is suggested on every website, don't put yourself at risk to potential security threats. You can use this fun tool to test the strength of your password.

The next bit of information that you need to key in is crucial. As a security measure, we require that any API that accesses tripwire uses a specific access mask. That mask is just your "AccountStatus" property and is defined by the mask "33554432". As you can see in the below screenshot, we have provided a link to autogenerate a key for you:

If you can't use the link for whatever reason, it will send you here: https://community.eveonline.com/support/api-key/CreatePredefined?accessMask=33554432 And don't worry, it opens in a new window.

If you see this screen then something is wrong with your API. Go back and ensure that it hasn't already expired, that you pasted it correctly and that you have ONLY the Account Status permission.

If you've done it correctly then the next thing that pops up will be a character selection screen, provided you used a multiple character API key. Just pick the main character that you will be tracking here then click next.

If you find that your character has already been used by an account now, you either have a bad case of amnesia or there's a serious security issue on your end. Redo your APIs.

Otherwise, go ahead and click the Log in button. Type in your username as password and you're all set! If you ever lose your password or cannot log in for whatever reason, try one of the other tabs from the login page. "EVE API" will allow you to log in using your API key to verify the user account and "EVE SSO" utlises the Eve Single Sign On to connect you and should automatically know which account to log you in with!

Once logged in, if you wish to change your username or password, you can do that through the settings page. You can find that by clicking the cog icon at the top right of your screen as shown below:
