Graphic problems and errors when creating layout - using MaleShirt as example

Issue #500 duplicate
Holger Pandel created an issue

I recently compiled the latest development branch on Windows and tried to use the MaleShirt pattern from Timo. First, I adjusted some measurements and then I changed the seam allowance on all parts from 1 to 1.5. Everything seemed to work, but in details view the sleeve graphic was getting faulty when changing the seam allowance (see attached PNG).

As I only have access to a A3 or A4 printer I first tried to create a corresponding layout, but that didn't work. I always get the attached message and the layout is not created at all.

When I try to create a A0 layout, it IS created, but it is incorrect and even creating a roll layout something is going wrong (see attached PNGs).

So, sadly, I'm not able to create anything printable at all.

Sorry, we don't have time to complete our new User Manual. This is the main reason why you have such troubles.

You must understand that in dialog Layout Settings you should select a paper size you need for creating a layout. Printing is independent step. The layout generator doesn't care about your printer. Because after creating a layout you could just decide to export an image (PNG, PDF or SVG) instead of printing.

After you will get a layout select File->Layout->Print tiled PDF. This will create for you a layout you could print on your printer.

Sorry, but you have decided to use very early alpha of branch 0.5.0. I will do my best to fix all reported bugs as soon as possible.

I am aware of using a very early alpha and it is totally ok that strange things happen in this stage... But I thought it would be helpful compiling it under Windows 10 64bit and posting the errors that occur?! ... So, regarding "layout", if I understand right, this is for creating a cutting or lay plan for the actual fabric, right?

It's good that you understand this. But very often people don't understand this.

Yes, but current implementation is not good for real fabric in some cases. But is good enough for printing.

Layout currently draws the pattern pieces in the most paper-saving arrangement (theoretically).

If you mean 'creating a cutting or lay plan for the actual fabric' is to determine the placement of pattern pieces on the fabric, then that is a 'Marker', and it's a future feature issue [#341]
