Issues after installing the software
I just tried to install the new version (valentina_0.5.0a-20170227080428_64bit-OSX.dmg)
but when i try to reload the application the mac say : (see the image)
which means that Valentina quitted with no reasons and that i should try again.
but of course the next times i have the same issue.
thanks for the help.
Thibault.

reporter this one
-
repo owner Looks like since Qt 5.8 they changed minimal supported Mac OS X version to 10.9. I will update that. But i will need your help to prove that i am right and this is the reason why you can't start the app.
-
reporter sure tell me what should i do?
-
repo owner Wait. I will post link with new build. Just download it and try to run.
-
repo owner Here valentina-osx.
-
reporter the message is still the same : valentina quitted for an unexpected reason
-
repo owner This is bad. I will need to install version 10.12 and look what is wrong. Sorry.
-
reporter thanks a lot for the help. hopefully you'll find what is wrong soon. :-)
-
repo owner @EmsellemT, i just checked on Sierra, Valentina runs without any warning. Do you know how to use a Terminal? Can you run Valentina in it? You will need command open -a Valentina.
-
repo owner - changed status to wontfix
Can't reproduce. Need more info.
-
reporter ugh i know how to use it but i'm not too sure about what you asked can you describe exactly what should i do or do you want to take hand on my computer if it's the kind of stuff that you do?
-
repo owner Usually programs write error messages when they runned in terminal. I hope such an error message will help me find out what's wrong.
So, i ask you to open your terminal, go to the folder where you stored Valentina and open it with command open -a Valentina. Post here output.
-
reporter i think i'm not too good is this what you wanted?
-
repo owner Yes, i think this is it! Give me some time to dig.
-
reporter i did it again i think it's better but it's says nothing
-
repo owner As i understood there could be several explanations. But because you used bundle that works for me the most promising for me is problem with the Mac system itself. I am not expert in Mac, but here what i have found.
Call this command in terminal: /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister -f Valentina.app then try to open again. This should help with problem.
-
reporter i just did but it says nothing and valentina didn't open
did i did it right?
-
reporter and i tried to open valentina after that but i have the same thing
-
repo owner Can you send me your Valentina.app somehow?
-
reporter you mean the one i copied to my application folder right?
-
repo owner Are you sure the valentina.app was in folder that was opened in terminal? Before run the command call ls.
-
reporter if it's what you asked i copied it again here : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qob0cvqtncu46up/AAAo7f5GZv3VjnLIagzJjKINa?dl=0
-
repo owner you mean the one i copied to my application folder right?
Yes.
-
reporter i totally don't understant the question you asked . i am so sorry i am this bad:-( Valentina is in my application folder and never moved from it should i put it to another folder?
-
reporter so it is the one i sent you the link
-
repo owner Your Valentina.app looks very weird. Here what we will do. Download a test build again. Then open the dmg file. Do not copy Valentina to Application folder. Open Valentina inside the dmg.
-
reporter ok i can do that.
-
repo owner i totally don't understant the question you asked
Don't worry, just don't give up!
-
reporter same mistake again
do you want my team viewer code so maybe it would be easier for you to find the solution? not that i don't want to help but i feel useless lol. :-)
-
repo owner Okay, i have installed team viewer.
-
repo owner I will try find how my system is different from your.
-
reporter ok just let me know when you need me or my computer again.
and again thanks for the help. what is really weird is that the previous versions works perfectly but not that one.
-
repo owner I have one radical proposal. To build Valentina on your mac. For this i need XCode and Qt installed on your system.
-
reporter ok i will search for that online i tell you when it's install just let me find it
-
reporter no problem for Xcode but QT seems more tricky
-
repo owner Not QT, Qt.
-
reporter is the free trial will be enough or do i have to buy it?
-
repo owner No, don't need to buy. We can use open source version. https://www.qt.io/download-open-source/?hsCtaTracking=f977210e-de67-475f-a32b-65cec207fd03%7Cd62710cd-e1db-46aa-8d4d-2f1c1ffdacea#section-2
-
reporter ok it will be ready in a little bit more than 30 minutes, it's downloading all the Gygabytes
you take control of the computer again? might be easier because i totally don't know those apps :-) but i can try if you prefer. :-D
-
repo owner Also we need Valentina's source code. https://bitbucket.org/dismine/valentina/get/develop.zip
I can control if you want.
-
reporter Qt is finishing is installing process and it's ready you can take the control back the new password is bq2i51
-
repo owner Sorry, forgot to fix the Tape app. :( Tomorrow i will release version with disabled update checker.
-
repo owner - changed status to open
-
repo owner - changed status to resolved
Fixed issue
#633. Valentina crashes when check for updates on Mac.This is temporary solution. We just disabled checking in release mode. User still can crash program if go to About Valentina/Tape dialog anf click on button Check update. Such a decidion will left us chance get more bug reports from users.
