dropping a SLI source onto a SpectralView opens the data in a new SpectralView and not the original SpectralView

    The the QgsDualView implementation does not allow to set an table view which inherits from QgsAttributeTableView (the destination of your red arrow). Therefor it's not possible to overwrite the table views dropEvent.

    However, I'll try to enable D&D for the plot window
