Error cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for IBM in ACS Available Packages

Issue #7 resolved
Mike created an issue

I am trying to install additional packages on my IBM i 7.3 system using Access Client Solutions Open Source Package Management. Installed packages works, but when I click on Updates Available or Available Packages I get the error:

Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: ibm. Please verify its path and try again.

This also occurs if I try to install a package in PASE on IBM i using yum. In PASE I get some additional information:

ftp://public.dhe.ibm.com/software/ibmi/products/pase/rpms/repo/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] curl#6 - "Could not resolve host: public.dhe.ibm.com"
Trying other mirror.

    Hi,

I had exactly the same problem with ACS "Open Source Package Management" and I found that it uses FTP. So it is necessary that your IBMi can access the public repository in public.dhe.ibm.com with FTP. In my case it was blocked by the company firewall.

    It may help.
