Improvements to game details pane

Issue #4804 new
RetroFrogg created an issue

I would like to see improvements to the game details pane as follows:

  • it should be able to show all of the available media and manuals, not just the ones it does currently
  • it should be possible to order and arrange this media as you want
  • it should be more flexible in terms of the layout
  • it should be able to be placed on a second monitor, allowing the full screen real estate to be used

Yes! LB can learn from other frontends like MAMEUI or D-Fend Reloaded. Tabs for videos, screenshots, manuals, cheats, physical scans, etc. No sense in letting all these images go to waste in desktop mode.

Exactly. Or even learn from Meagre, which is a lower-powered interface for DOS games but which can show a number of media images concurrently.

I agree with what you said. Also, I would like to suggest two further improvements:

    (1) Separate the text and the screenshot areas into two windows. This is major! The text area could be scrolled vertically, as it is, but the screenshot area could force snapshots to fit it and be scrolled horizontally. Now you only see cropped snapshots and you have to scroll down to see the full picture. With horizontal scrolling, you could see the whole picture and switch to the next one with scrolling horizontally.

    (2) Allow use of the wasted area to the right of the fields in game details; this area is always empty; allow to move a logo or the video window there.

    Thanks!
