Minimum icon spacing could be smaller

in the attached image I've rebuilt an identical tool bar in kbar to my old ft-toolbar layout. if I scale the buttons in kbar to approximately the same size they spread out further than the ft-toolbar buttons. I suspect this has to do with ft-toolbar's ability to adjust the horizontal and vertical size of the icons independently.

not sure what the fix is but would love to squeeze bigger buttons into a tighter layout.
