Determine branch name under FreeBSD 10

Michael Grünewald repo owner created an issue

The branch name is not determined properly under FreeBSD 10. The script scm_prompt_make.sh behaves as if git were not installed.

    Determine branch name under FreeBSD 10

    In FreeBSD 10, closing the standard output of command yields an error, so we redirect to /dev/null instead of closing.
